What is Mindset Repatterning?

It happens to every artist. You’re thinking about an upcoming pitch, audition, or performance (which would ideally be exciting to think about), and in roll the incessantly negative thoughts.
Who do I think I am?
I’m going to blow it.
I’m not good enough.
Ouch.
You know it’s not helpful to think these kinds of thoughts.
You wouldn’t be an artist if you didn’t know that–if you didn’t know what a powerful affect your thoughts have on the way you speak, perform, and even how others see you. People can practically smell what you think about yourself in this industry.
But what you probably don’t know is how to change the conversation in your head, permanently, into one that sets you up for continued success.
Affirmations, guided visualizations, and boosting yourself up in the mirror can feel like a joke in the face of self-berating thoughts that come like machine-gun fire.
When you try, and fail, to change your internal monologue, it’s easy to think something must be wrong with you.
Or worse, that the negative thoughts must be right, so you should throw in the towel on your big goals and dreams.
When life seems to confirm your negative thoughts through rejection, it’s hard not to see it as a “sign” that yes, indeed, you’re destined for failure.
But the truth is, reality will always mirror back to you what’s in your mind.
Even if you’ve gained a degree of positivity about your success, if you have mixed thoughts about it (where you go through bouts of doubt), life will mirror mixed results back to you that mirror your mind.
To truly change your reality–and increase the creative opportunities and success you experience–you have to change what’s in your head.
You have to change your mindset.
Now, I know that “mindset” has become an overused buzzword, but that’s just because of how misunderstood and misrepresented it is.
Your mindset is the set-point of your thoughts, which are held in place by powerful, unconscious beliefs and feelings.
It’s not enough to just think a new thought, like “I will be successful,” and expect it to stick. You have to weave new thoughts into your unconscious mind, and back them up with powerful, positive emotions in such a way that your mind starts to think that new, positive thought all on its own–when you’re not monitoring it.
I used to be plagued by the worst kinds of negative thoughts, before I started doing this work in 1998. I called myself names I shouldn’t write in this post. And even though there was part of me that knew I had great dreams and the talent to realize them, another part of me was hell-bent on convincing myself of the opposite.
It wasn’t until I discovered alternative methods that used applied kinesiology to pinpoint why these different aspects of myself weren’t on the same page–which traced back to childhood–and how to help them think and feel differently, that the way I spoke to myself truly changed.
Mindset Repatterning is a method I created, over thousands of hours, that creates lasting change in your heart, mind, and life by first taking you behind the scenes of your own mind.

When one part of you says, “Wouldn’t it be nice to be in a film that’s nominated for an Oscar?”, another part says: “Yeah, right, like that’ll ever happen.” The second part is masquerading as self-doubt, but what’s really happening is that it’s afraid. It may be afraid of losing loved ones to jealousy, feeling like you’re out of your league, or being too exposed and vulnerable to attack.
Some people call these self-sabotaging parts “bad” and suggest that you beat them, outsmart them, or even kill them. But Mindset Repatterning doesn’t help you do any of those things–which is why it works so well. You’ll succeed much faster by including those naysaying parts of you in the pursuit of your creative goals where they feel safe, honored, and even needed.
