Which of the 5 Life Story Types Do You Have?
The Power of Knowing Your Purpose
[MINDSET REPATTERNING]
Actor Mckay Stewart (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Eagle Eye) had racked up a ton of credits on IMDb, but not for the lead or supporting lead roles he truly wanted. He shared with me at the beginning of this episode that it felt like there was a glass ceiling between where he was and where he wanted to be, and he didn’t know how to break it.
We moved forward with his Mindset Repatterning session and discovered that the glass ceiling was made up of negative things he’d heard from casting directors that got stuck in his head and felt like truth, that he was almost perfect for the supporting and lead roles.
We talked about how other people (namely, casting directors) can pick up on whatever you’re telling yourself about your castability.
If it’s in your head that a casting director won’t want you for a particular reason, they will sense that and pass you by without even necessarily knowing why themselves.
In order to transform what he was telling himself, we went higher. We clarified his true purpose as an actor and connected him to it so clearly, that fulfilling it felt inevitable. Any reason someone might have for why he couldn’t succeed became irrelevant.
Part of the process involved me saying to him, as if I was a casting director, what he really needed to hear instead, which shifted things for him in a big way.
By the end of the session, you can hear a tangible shift in his voice where it had become laughable to even talk about what had been stopping him in his tracks just an hour earlier. He came into full alignment with a series of powerful intentions, including:
I tell stories with integrity that are impactful, emotional, and inspiring and I fulfill my purpose as an artist—I do what I’m here to do.
What’s magical about listening to this podcast (or any Mindset Repatterning episode on this podcast) is how you experience a shift right along with the person I’m facilitating a session for, just by listening. If you’re currently telling yourself that you can’t succeed as an artist, for any number of reasons, by listening to this episode you can expect to connect to your purpose in a way that makes obstacles feel obsolete.
The message McKay needed to hear from his Higher Power, that you may need to hear as well, was:
Everything you just described wanting to achieve as an artist is what you were born to do. This is meant to be. The world needs you to succeed and you will. And I’m going to be helping you out every step of the way—it’s going to be an awesome journey!
